Senator Dean Tran

When Karing 4 Kidz explained to me their cause, I knew I had to get involved.  Karing 4 Kidz located in Fitchburg, Massachusetts has long been an active presence in the community and attracted a countless number of volunteers from all social sectors.  The organization goes above and beyond during the holidays by providing food and gifts to the underprivileged children.

Since 2011, Karing 4 Kidz has been distributing what they call “kidpacks”, food in a backpack, to children who face the problem of having proper meals over the weekends and the holidays.  These kidpacks contain healthy non-perishable food to make sure that they do not go hungry.

Despite the meals that our schools already provide, we cannot guarantee that some children from financially unstable families have access to proper meals after they leave school.  I am keenly aware of the detriments of food insecurity to young children’s school performance and growth.  I am proud to be able to help by securing $20,000 in the FY2020 budget to help Karing 4 Kidz.  This funding would not only help them in achieving their goal and feed more children but also inspire other communities to take initiative and dedication to contribute and serve their residents.

During the pandemic, Karing 4 Kidz continues to provide care packs for the children.  For more information, visit, http://karing4kidz.blogspot.com.

Congratulations and thank you, Karing 4 Kidz, for your amazing work and helping our community.  #CommunityFirst
